Douglas Murphy \  Icon Magazine Architectural Correspondant & Architect

Douglas is most known for being a writer and architect. He is author to the books ‘Last Futures’ & ‘The Architecture of Failure’. He is also a critic and academic in a multitude of places & institutions.

His current research and writing looks at and studies the technology and nature in post-war architectural avande-gardes.

He is currently architecture correspondent at Icon Magazine, as well as writing for a variety of publications on topics from architecture, fine art and photography.

Alongside writing, Douglas has taught and lectured far and wide: from institutions such as Oxford and UCL and the RCA to ETH Zurich and the AA. With appearances on BBC Radio and Frieze TV to name but a few.

As an architect and designer, Douglas has worked for the likes of Bompas & Parr and Chora in a variety of ways.

Multistory is a student and alumni led guest lecture programme series at Canterbury School of Architecture, University for the Creative Arts that seeks to invite architects, designers, writers, curators, photographers, and artists to speak about their work.
