Klaus Toons // Illustrator

KLAUS was born somewhere in Western Europe at some point in the mid seventies. For some years, he suffered from a syndrome called architecture, from which he has not yet recovered. Showing an early passion for drawing, he was introduced to comic books at a young age by his family and educators, to their later regret. As an illustrator, Klaus has always believed in the importance of having a distinctive style, which explains why he has been systematically copying the styles of the most distinctive comics artists, such as André Franquín. Only his complete lack of success in doing so has prevented him from being effectively sued for plagiarism.

Amin Taha // Amin Taha Architects

Born in East Berlin to Sudanese and Iraqi parents, Amin Taha later moved to the UK and graduated in Architecture from the University of Edinburgh. He set up his own practice, Groupwork+Amin Taha after working in the office of Zaha Hadid. The Barrett's Grove housing development in Stoke Newington was shortlisted for the Stirling Prize in 2017 and the practice has subsequently completed 15 Clerkenwell Close, a mixed-use building that makes innovative use of loadbearing stone and acommodates Taha's home and office.

Rod Heyes // Caruso St John

Rod Heyes is a partner at Caruso St John along with Adam Caruso and Peter St John.

Since its foundation in 1990, Caruso St John has been pursuing an architecture that is rooted in place. The practice resists the thin-skinned abstraction that characterises much global architecture in favour of buildings that are perceived slowly over time and that have an emotional content.
Its work is enriched by an on-going dialogue with the European city and with history – that of architecture, art, and culture more widely – traditions that bring an accumulated richness of expression to the work.
